Wow I was featured on sketchbooknews.com - the blog run by Autodesk dedicated to their awesome Sketchbook Pro product line. I met Chris Cheung from Autodesk at the May 26 Schoolism workshop in Toronto, and he thought our use of the iPad to do the graphic novel was interesting... so there I am!

And if you're interested to check out the eBook, here it is on iTunes - Part 1 is completely free!

Cheers!

PS I plan to get caught up on my messages soon - but I'm real busy-like at work so I just have had no time lately!

Hey ppl!

I just posted the first 16 pages of our first graphic novel, part 1 of mission 1 of the Lifecode Missions. We completed the novel almost a year ago but it took nearly that long to get it all published and up on iTunes and Smashwords. Now we're finally ready to unleash it to the world!

I have some 38 pages to post (including the covers, inside covers, and bonus material pages)... so stay tuned if you're curious to find out who this Alastor is and how he seemed to survive a no-win situation!

Mission 01: Part 01: is being released for free - I hope you enjoy it! We're still figuring out if/when/how to charge for the later missions and parts, so I don't know how long this gravy train will be running... get it while it's hot!

I've been really busy with my day job, designing and coding the interface for the Android launcher replacement called Claystone...  lots of fun but it sure chews up my free time!

Hope everyone is doing well!

Cheers,
D

Hey guys!

I posted the first few pages of The Unconquered Sun, a story I've been developing for years and years. I recently got two of my long-time friends involved, and they've been helping to keep the project moving forward, and making me fix the bad stuff and enhance the good. I want to release this as I develop it, so I've started by posting the first five pages (tho two are credit and chapter breaks so really it's only 3 pages).

I have done roughs for the next five pages and I'll be rendering those out soon.

It's all done on the iPad which is a great tool for creating art (despite what everyone said about it only being about consuming stuff). I do some work on my Android Galaxy Tab too when I can (it doesn't have most of the apps I need yet, but it does have Sketchbook Pro which is the core of my workflow).

I plan to release the entire graphic novel online... and hopefully people will like it, and maybe it'll go somewhere after... so stay tuned!

Also I created a gallery where I can upload some of my concept art for this project. I recently discovered a ZBrush/Mudbox-like iPad app called 123d which uses intuitive touch control and a small but powerful set of tools to let you do clay-sculpture-like work on your iPad. I've never been adept at 3D stuff so when I saw the results, I was pretty floored. I'm planning to use it to design character heads for my stories, which I can then use as part of my workflow to ensure that each character looks consistent throughout the series. It's awesome.

Speaking of stories, we're THIS close to getting the other project, The Lifecode Missions, in Apples book store... as soon as Peter tells me it's up, I'll post the entire first part here. We've finished about 36 pages, which constitutes part 1 of mission 1, and introduces the story of Lifecode... Peter wrote it and I did the art, and Prasad helped with the editing. I'm pretty happy with the results.  If you like sci-fi, stay tuned for that!

Hope everyone is doing awesome!

It's been forever since I uploaded anything, but that's not for lack of producing! I have a graphic novel that I've started with a friend which we're almost ready to publish - we'll be giving away the first 35-40 pages here on dA and other places. Can't wait to get it online... I produced it entirely on my iPad - back when that meant something!

Hope everyone's been awesome... looking forward to catching up with my dA friends!

New stuff

1 min read
Just posted a bunch of stuff I've done over the last year or so related to the Attrition Project. I'm a big fan of big robots so I tried to do my own spin on them. Fun stuff!
